Facebook is one of the most powerful advertising platform available to businesses today.
What is changing?
Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg announced earlier this year the goal of your News Feed is changing from “helping you find relevant content” to enabling meaningful social experiences. That means all those updates and videos from friends and family will feature more often in your news feed.
Instead of prioritizing posts based on comments and shares, Facebook will now prioritize content in your News Feed that they predict will spark meaningful ‘back-and-forth discussion’.
What does that mean for your advertising?
There is no denying that there will be fewer adverts featured in your news feed. This will create greater competition for those advertising positions. However, it does mean that lazy, uncreative, uninspiring advertising that does not offer interest or value to people, will all but disappear.
Advertising that educates, informs and enriches peoples, lives and social experiences will not only be featured on the hallowed News Feed, but it will get greater visibility and customer engagement. Consequently, increasing the success of your advertising campaign.
The result is we must work harder to make your advertising campaign work. We will have to be more creative, add value and understand exactly what your customers want. We must create campaigns that engage and draw customers in. Not advertise at them.
More work yes but the rewards and opportunity Facebook offer will be worth it.
And let’s not forget, advertising is the only income Facebook have.
